In Romans 8:38-39 I read, “For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.” (TLB)
No matter how bad life gets, I can rest in one important truth: God won’t stop loving me.
I’ll have things go right and go wrong. But God’s love will never end, I can count on that.
That truth should be one of the most important sources of joy in my life!
The Bible says it like this in Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us” (TLB).
That’s good news. When I put my hand in God’s hand, he grabs it and won’t let go. God holds on to me with all he has.
I’ll have times in my life when I’ll want to let go of God’s hand. I’ll want to give up my commitment to Christ when times get tough.
But God won’t let go, ever. Once I put my hand in his, it’s there to stay.
If I could earn my salvation by working for it, I could lose it the moment I stopped working for it. But I didn’t earn my relationship with God. It was a free gift. Once it has been given, it can’t be taken back.
That’s an unimaginable source of joy for the believer.
In summary, nothing can ever separate me from God’s love. His love is demonstrated by the Lord Jesus Christ when he died for me. So no matter how bad life gets, I can rest in one important truth: God won’t stop loving me. I’ll have things go right and go wrong. But God’s love will never end, I can count on that. When I put my hand in God’s hand, he grabs it and won’t let go. God holds on to me with all he has. I’ll have times in my life when I’ll want to let go of God’s hand. I’ll want to give up my commitment to Christ when times get tough. But God won’t let go, ever. I didn’t earn my relationship with God. It was a free gift. Once it has been given and received, it can’t be taken back.
It's a great reminder that God holds me close, regardless of what happens. He will never give up on me. Father I thank you for your unending love for me. I ask you today for wisdom and guidance for my day, my work, my leadership and my interactions with others. I ask this through your Son Jesus’ name, amen.
