Job 23:10 says, “He knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” (NIV)
It’s important to live a life of integrity regardless of what I’m going through and to trust God's justice. I'm likely to have hidden sin in my life, sin I don't even know about because God's standards are so high and my performance is so imperfect. My sins are forgiven because of what Christ did on the cross on my behalf. Even if I feel guilty, God is greater than my feelings. His forgiveness and cleansing are sufficient; they overrule my nagging doubts.
This verse speaks of the potential for producing “gold” in my life. If I go through the trial in a way that honors God, then something of beauty could be produced. Peter says in 1 Peter 1:7, “These trials are only to test your faith, to see whether or not it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies it—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold” (TLB).
If my integrity and faith remains strong after being tested by fiery trials, it will bring me much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. Gold can be produced by the fires of my life.
In the trials, I can gain a more intimate walk with Jesus as I have learned how to trust him in the darkest place I can ever be. God can produce gold when I allow him to use my pain for his glory.
In summary, God knows the way that I take; and when he has tested me, I want to come forth as gold. To do so, It’s important to live a life of integrity regardless of what I’m going through and to trust in God's justice. This verse speaks of the potential for producing “gold” in my life. If I go through the trial in a way that honors God, then something of beauty could be produced. As Peter says, “These trials are only to test your faith, and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold.” If my integrity and faith remain strong after being tested by fiery trials, it will bring praise, glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. In the trials, I can gain a more intimate walk with Jesus as I learn to trust him in the darkest places. God can produce gold when I allow him to use my pain for his glory.
Father, my time in your Word and in this devotion have been a great reminder and an encouragement to live with integrity and to bring glory to your name in my situation. I need to keep away from complaining or having any negative thoughts.
I pray with the help of the Holy Spirit in my life to continue in my trial with integrity, to bring glory to you and to continue to have a deep relationship with you. I ask for wisdom and guidance for my day, my work, my leadership and my interactions with others. These things I pray in your Son Jesus’ name, amen.
