Becoming Better At Handling Relationships

In review of 1 John 4:7 it says, “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.”

Bottom Line:
Dear Friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God, anyone who loves is a child of and really knows God.

What this means to me:
I am to continue to love others because love comes from God. When I love others, it shows that I have been given a new life, and know as a child of God that truly knows him.

What I’ve learned so far is that love is a skill that can be learned. It is something I can get good at, getting better at love by practicing love.

I can become an expert at relationships. The only way I can become skilled at something is to practice. I do it over and over. The first time I do it, it feels awkward, but the more I do it, the better I become.

The same is true with love. This verse tells me, “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God” (1 John 4:7 NLT, second edition). In summary, practice loving others.

Practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to all” (1 Timothy 4:15 HCSB).

As I reflect on this today, Love is truly God’s nature. Being a child of his and knowing him means I should be like him and reflect his nature by continually loving others. This morning God I thank you for the reminder that your very nature is love and you have made me in your image. In addition you are not suggesting, but rather telling me that to be like you I am to love others. So today, I sense that God wants me to take on showing love like he does, so I need to be thinking his character is love. I am to show I am truly his child, and part of his family by loving others like he would.
