In review of Romans 8:34 it says, “Who then is the one who condemns us? No one. Christ Jesus who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
Bottom Line:
Jesus has done so much for us and continues to do so by interceding in prayer for us.
What this means to me:
I have a champion in Christ, he died and was raised to life. He sits at God’s side and will intercede, pray and plead my case before him. In reality, God knows everything that’s going to happen. He is omniscient. He knows the past, the present, and the future all at once. He already knows what’s going to happen in my life this afternoon. He knows what’s going to happen in my life next week, next month, next year, and the rest of my days. This also means he can pray about it before it happens. As a dad, I often talk to myself about my daughter, and I’d like to think that God talks to himself about me as well. The night before Jesus went to the cross, he was with his disciples. Peter was kind of bragging and saying, “Lord, I would die for you!” Jesus loved Peter, but he knew Peter was a little impulsive. He also knew Peter was going to deny him three times before the next morning. Jesus said in Luke 22:32, “I have prayed that you will not lose your faith! Help your brothers be stronger when you come back to me” (NCV). Jesus had already prayed for Peter in the storm he was going to go through. Jesus has already prayed through what I’m going to go through this year. In fact, right now Jesus is in Heaven, praying for his children. He is interceding for me, meaning he is talking to God on my behalf. Romans 8:34 says, “Who then is the one who condemns us? No one. Christ Jesus who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us” (NIV). That’s what Jesus is doing. He’s praying for me to make it through my storms. It’s great to have people praying for you. When I was sick earlier this year, I had lots of people praying for me. It was great and I’m sure helped to speed along my recovery. God knew I was going to get sick before it even happened and he carried me through the experience. The Bible reminds me that no matter what I may go through today, next week, or next year, Jesus is praying for me. He’s on my side. Because I’ve trusted him as my Savior, he’s interceding for me because he loves and cares for me. He only wants the best for me. Being reminded via today’s verse that Jesus is praying for me gives me renewed confidence as I go into my day and for whatever may come my way.
