In summary of Proverbs 14:8 it says, “The wise man looks ahead. The fool attempts to fool himself and won’t face facts.”
Bottom Line:
The wise one will look ahead and understand where they are going, but a fool just deceives himself.
What this means to me:
I need to have enough sense to look ahead, see what’s coming, try to give thought to and understand where I’m going. If I don’t I’m only fooling myself (unwarranted self confidence) as I will probably never get to where I want to go. Following and living as God tells me provides comprehensive insight. I also need to keep track on where I’m going in life. I should put together a plan knowing what God is telling me but also not stubborningly holding it too tight. Putting a plan together helps uncover some pitfalls we might encounter and how to apply God’s way of dealing with them. Today I will ask God to help me as I begin to establish goals for the next decade in my life. I’ll evaluate my goals in relation to the power of God in my life. I’ll also begin to think about lessons I’ve learned from the last 10 years. Overall, with whatever it is I plan, I need to be able to flex and adjust and God brings new insights or assignments my way.
