In summary of James 2:24 it says, “You can now see that we please God by what we do and not only by what we believe.”
Bottom Line:
We please God by what we do and not only through what we believe.
What this means to me:
I am more justified by what I do and not only what I believe. It is through my works of obedience as well as what I believe. My beliefs are shown in my actions (I truly believe what I believe and I’m willing to act upon it.) God smile when I’m obeying him wholeheartedly. Its me doing whatever he asks without reservation or hesitation (no longer procrastinating about it but doing it without delay.) A delayed obedience is really disobedience. Scripture tells me that my instant obedience will teach me more about God than a lifetime of just talking about it as I may never understand some commands until I obey them first. My quick obedience can unlock understanding. So today I will consider things I’m doing that are only partial obedience (picking and choosing the commands I want to obey and hesitating on the others.) I want to learn to do them with joyful enthusiasm. I will add the following scripture to my daily quiet time, "Just tell me what to do and I will do it, Lord. As long as I live I'll wholeheartedly obey." (Psalm 119:33 LB) Any act of obedience on my part is also an act of worship. When I’m obedient is proves I really love him.
